Agencies Interested in Contestants Eliminated from “K-Pop Star”

It’s no secret that the contestants of K-Pop’s hottest audition show, SBS‘s “K-Pop Star” are super talented, and the music industry has definitely been taking notice. Many agencies are now looking to sign the eliminated contestants of the show, but it appears that there are some complications involved.

A music industry insider shared, “The contestants who appeared on ‘K-Pop Star’ can be considered of much higher caliber than the ones on MBC‘s ‘The Great Birth.’ As a result, there has been a fierce behind-the-scenes competition between music agencies to try to snag the eliminated contestants from the show.”

Unfortunately, the insider revealed that this was not an easy matter. The reason? Prior to appearing on the show, the contestants agreed with SBS stating that they would not sign any exclusive contracts with any agencies for several months after being eliminated from the show.

The director of the show, Park Sung Hoon PD, explained, “The music industry has had a large interest in the eliminated contestants. However, since the show is currently being aired, we’ve requested for the former contestants to refrain from entering any contracts.”

An anonymous music insider commented, “Even though they’ve been eliminated from ‘K-Pop Star,’ there are a lot of talented contestants. I don’t know if it’s because the top K-Pop agencies, SM, JYP, and YG, were involved, but the contestant pool was quite exceptional.” The insider added, “Though there is a lot of interest in the eliminated contestants, I’ve heard that there is about a 4-month period where agencies are prohibited from approaching them. Even if any of them have been contacted, everyone is being cautious not to let the news leak out.”

If any news happens to leak out, the agencies are afraid of falling on SBS’s bad side. However, for the “K-Pop Star” contestants, the outlook is bright. Even if they don’t make it to the final round of the show, they still can make their dream come true through other agencies.

This is interesting since I wasn’t expecting agencies to be interested in the contestants who were eliminated.

The eliminated contestants are so talented, it’s unfortunate that not everyone could win. At least there is hope for the others ^^
